Dane Baptiste
Soloshow
Dane Baptiste has had a decade of dominance; as a trailblazer, innovator and incendiary voice in the comedy community. The last 10 years of Dane’s career have come with a number of personal and industry milestones. In 2014, Dane was nominated for Best Newcomer at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival, where it turns out he was the first Black British comic to ever be nominated. This then lead to Dane creating, writing and starring in ‘SunnyD’ on BBC Three, the first sitcom written by a black British writer with a Black British cast to appear on the BBC in over 20 years. This then lead to the show being purchased by Lionsgate, with the intention of remaking an American version of the show under the auspices of ‘Scary Movie’ creator Keenan Ivory Wayans. He then went on to amass a number of TV and Radio credits, including appearing on and hosting Live At The Apollo in 2015 and 2017 respectively, whilst also appearing on ALL recognised Comedy TV shows, including 8 out 10 Cats, Countdown, Mock the Week and Comic Relief to name a few. Dane’s Live work has gone from strength to strength since his debut show ‘Citizen Dane’; with successive live shows ‘Reasonable Doubts’ and ‘Gold Oil and Drugs’ not only being sell out international tour shows as far afield as Australia and the UAE, but also being adapted for shows such as ‘Live At The BBC’ on Netflix and ‘Live At Soho Theatre’ on Amazon Prime.
Live at the Apollo (BBC Two), Mock the Week (BBC Two), 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown (Channel 4), The Stand Up Sketch Show (ITV2), Black, British and Funny (Channel 4), Frankie Boyle’s New World Order (BBC Two), Roast Battle (Comedy Central), Comedians Giving Lectures (Dave), Hypothetical (Dave), Tonight at the London Palladium (ITV1), Live from the BBC (BBC Three), Alan Davies: As Yet Untitled (Dave), Comedians Solve World Problems (Comedy Central) and more.

DBQE has risen to prominence in a short space of time; and has enjoyed guests ranging from BBC’s Reggie Yates, Pop Superstar Jamelia, Conservative peer Baroness Warsi to former Labour leader Ed Miliband. This has lead to top listings for Comedy and Conversation Podcasts on Spotify; as well as award nominations from the National Comedy Awards and PodBible. More recently; Dane created and starred on the critically acclaimed ratings smash ‘Bamous’ on BBC as well as his first web series ‘The A-Z Of Blackness’ on YouTube. Dane continues to gig internationally, as well as providing writing services on ‘Attack of The Film Cliches’ alongside Charlie Brooker, and writing for CBBC and for BGT winners alongside regularly appearing on Daytime TV.
